In part 1, I discussed the unethical foundation of the ‘War on Terror’ because of the initial assumptions of guilt and the waging of war while disregarding any need for proof or patience. This, of course, laid the groundwork for an invasion of Iraq based upon the highly questionable assumption of the validity of preemptive war. All of this, however, says nothing of the even larger ramifications of the broad scope, methods, and assumptions driving the ‘War on Terror’ as a whole. (more…)

It has been said last week’s elections were a referendum on Bush’s handling of the Iraq War. If we are to assume for a moment that there is truth in that assessment, the question to ask is: what good is the shift in power brought by the referendum? (more…)

Now, to explain my belief that the dangerous irony of the ‘War on Terror’ (i.e. the willingness to forgo some liberty to ostensibly fight to defend liberty and security) is, in some way, an embedded, apparent contradiction within modern ‘conservatism’. I hope this post too will serve as an even better explanation of the concerns I have over the growth of government power in waging the ‘War on Terror.’ (more…)
